PECHA KUCHA Night Trnava
In Watermelon Sugar
Supervisor of project and book design: Palo Bálik
Client: Artforum, publishing house, Bratislava
The cult novella written by Richard Brautigan about a place called iDeath where a closed commune lives in harmony with Nature surrounded by watermelon sugar substance. Amorphous, playful yet brutal illustrations are created with the same tool as the handwritten text – using tablet pen. The whole book is a kind of contemporary digital manuscript.
We decided to take a less noble approach to this old Indian epos: its visual concept is inspired by imperfections and street aesthetics. Misprints, cheap textile patterns, low print quality simulations. All that in two bright Pantone spot colours and FM raster.

A lovely story written by Miro Carsky about bad habits and that even dogs have to deal with their ancestors’ heritage. Digitally collaged illustrations with paper textures.
